Anwar Chowdhury,
Operations Manager

Anwar joined Digital in 1997. He has a PhD in Chemistry, with a focus on the synthesis of organometallic compounds. Anwar also undertook post-doctoral research at the University of Toronto. At DSC he has risen through the ranks as a chemist, shift supervisor and product development manager before taking on his current role of Operations Manager in 2006. Anwar is a key member of our team as he carries a vast knowledge of the industry, extensive research and experience, and specific knowledge gained in organophosphorus, coordination, organometallic, silicon and boron chemistry.

Leijun Hao,
Process Development Manager

Leijun received his PhD from the University of Western Ontario. Following post-doctorial studies at McGill University, he took up a NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship for a joint research program at the University of Rochester, NSF Center for Photo-induced Charge Transfer and the Eastman Kodak Company. He then joined the Mirkin group at Northwestern University as a Research associate. Leijun joined DSC in 2003 and rose through the ranks as a chemist, shift supervisor and senior chemist before taking on his current role as Process Development Manager in 2006. Leijun has more than 30 publications in ACS and other major journals.

Michael Horvath,
Director of Product Management

Mike Horvath obtained a PhD in 1994 from the University of Toronto, specializing in the synthesis of organometallic complexes and their use in organic synthesis.  Following completion of his studies, Mike and his wife moved to Melbourne, Australia where he took up an ICI-Post Doctoral Fellowship at Monash University.  During this period, he worked to develop phosgene-free routes to commercially important isocyanates, The project successfully developed a Mitsunobu-type preparation of aliphatic isocyanates from carbon dioxide and primary amines. In the years since, Mike has followed his passion through several successful endeavors with ICI Forest Products in Mississauga, Ontario and ICI Polyurethanes in Melbourne, Australia, prior to joining DSC in 2002. As Director of Research & Development from 2002 to 2006, Mike and his team developed and implemented significant cost-reducing technologies in the manufacture of organophosphorus compounds and boronic acids.  During 2007, Mike served as Director of Product Management leading DSC's drive to achieve maximum business benefit, profitability and market competitiveness for each of the business' Top 20 products throughout their product life cycle.  Since 2008, as Director of Manufacturing Support, Mike has led engineering & plant maintenance as well as Quality Control and Shipping/Receiving.  In 2010, Mike has also taken up the role as Head of Heath & Safety and is strongly driven to guide DSC along the path to sustained H&S excellence.
