Scott Laneman, Scientific Fellow/Director of R&D Scott received his B.S. in Chemistry from Southeast Missouri State University in 1985. He obtained his PhD at Louisiana State University in 1990 under the supervision of George G. Stanley. The focus of his doctoral research was the design of bimetallic homogeneous catalysts. Scott joined Monsanto Corporate Research in 1990 and continued the development of asymmetric hydrogenation catalysts for the production of various pharmaceutical intermediates. He moved to the Catalysis Group at G. D. Searle, a division of Monsanto, in 1992 and continued his focus on both chiral and achiral catalysis in the scale up and manufacture of pharmaceutical entities. In 1995, Scott then joined NSC Technologies, another division of Monsanto, which specialized in the contract manufacture of chiral drug intermediates. Great Lakes Chemical purchased NSC Technologies in 1999 and was acquired by Albany Molecular Research in 2001 where he continued to focus on the production of chiral fine chemicals with an emphasis on asymmetric catalysis. Scott joined Digital Specialty Chemicals in 2004 and acts as a technical advisor, provides technical support for sales, and designs new ligands for chiral and achiral homogeneous catalysis. Scott has co-authored 34 papers, 8 patents, and 3 book chapters. Visit the Technical Library here. |
